BiUbe Aquarium

The round column aquarium from the BiOrb family.

The biUbe is a unique addition to the Reef One aquarium range. Available in silver or black and designed to fit in a smaller space than the biOrb range, it is ideal as a focal point in a small flat, study, kitchen or bedroom. Made from strong, crystal clear acrylic and featuring the identical filtration system as the popular biOrb means it is simple and quick to maintain. The biUbe contains 35 litres of water and is ideal for tropical or coldwater fish. Supplied complete with a 5 stage internal filter, halogen light, ceramic media, air pump, plug top 12 volt transformer, water treatment, fish food & a full set of instructions.

The biOrb filter system - Bubbles are created by the air pump. The air pump forces air through the base of the aquarium creating air bubbles which rise up through the bubble tube. When the bubbles hit the surface, oxygen is released into the water. Surface agitation also allows carbon dioxide to escape out of the water. This helps force water down through the filter allowing the fish to breathe and beneficial bacteria to do their job, while the plants breathe at night. The sponge and fine mesh provide mechanical filtration, working like a waste bin, by trapping solid particles of waste and debris keeping them out of the water. The activated carbon and resins provide chemical filtration by absorbing some nitrate, phosphate and other chemicals creating clear, colourless water. The ceramic rocks at the base of the biOrb provide an ideal home for filter bacteria to live, multiply and work removing toxic ammonia and nitrite from the water.

Servicing your biOrb or biUbe - Every 1-2 months a Reef One SERVICE KIT will be required to maintain the water in prime condition. Replacement of the dirty filter cartridge and a 30% partial water change is essential to reduce nitrate and phosphate pollution in the water. The SERVICE KIT, available separately, contains a filter cartridge, water chemicals, cleaning pad and instructions. A Reef One CLEANER PUMP is available which provides a convenient way to remove debris and siphon out the water. Never remove the ceramic media after the biOrb has matured. Every 24 weeks check that the one way valves are working correctly.
Disconnect the airline tube from the air pump and lower the airline to a level below the biOrb water line. If water leaks into the airline wither the replace the one way valve in the biOrb base or fit an additional one way valve in the airline 6 inches from the air pump. Air pumps will wear out and become noisy due to continuous operation. It is vital that they are replaced immediately after failure to avoid water quality problems. The air stone, in the base of the biOrb, will become blocked after a time by calcification. The flow of bubbles into the biOrb will be reduced and the air stone should be replaced. Green water is caused by harmless algae, which occurs naturally in healthy aquariums. If your aquarium water quickly turns green it is most likely caused by too much sunlight, overfeeding, too many fish or high levels of nitrate and phosphate in tap water. Cleaning the biOrb requires care to prevent scratching. NEVER USE HOUSEHOLD DETERGENTS, polishes or scouring pads. Reef-One cleaning pads are available. The external acrylic surface can be polished using a proprietary solvent free furniture polish, which should be applied with a soft, clean cloth and not sprayed directly onto the biOrb.
