| Gravel from the beaches and gravel banks of Dorset is a natural, tide rounded stone that makes an ideal aquarium substrate or base medium. It is sieved into three suitable sizes depending on the type of aquarium and fish that are to be kept. This larger size, 7mm (3/8in), is suitable for the larger fish where plant growth is not required but the fish have habits of digging and moving the stone. It is not ideal for use with under gravel filters. Each particle is of heavier weight so easily cleaned using gravel cleaners. We would recommend this as an economical medium for mixed cichlids, either African (Malawi and other lakes) or the larger South American cichlid tropical fish aquariums.
